Security
Protecting your information is a core part of how we operate. We collect only what we need to prepare your documents, transmit it over encrypted connections, restrict who can access it, and store it securely. This page explains the safeguards we use and the simple steps you can take to help keep your information safe.
Our Commitment to Security
Debt Clarity LLC ("Debt Clarity," "we," "us," or "our") handles sensitive case information for people responding to debt collection lawsuits. We treat that responsibility seriously and apply reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and loss.
This Security page should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which describe what we collect, how we use it, and the terms that govern our services.
How We Protect Your Data
- Encryption in transit: Every page of our website and all data you submit are protected with industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS), so information moving between your device and us is encrypted.
- Restricted, least-privilege access: Only team members who need your information to prepare your documents are permitted to access it, and only for that purpose.
- Secure document storage: Uploaded documents and prepared files are stored with access controls that limit who can view them.
- Reputable infrastructure: We rely on established hosting and cloud-storage providers that maintain their own robust physical and network security programs.
- Confidential handling: We treat all information you share as confidential and do not sell it. (Please note that this confidentiality is a contractual commitment — it is not attorney-client privilege.)
Data Minimization
The best way to protect sensitive data is not to collect it in the first place. We ask only for the information necessary to prepare the documents you request.
Please do not send us Social Security numbers, government-issued ID numbers, medical records, or bank or financial account login credentials. We do not need this information to prepare your documents, and we do not intentionally collect it. If you include such information by mistake, we will take reasonable steps to remove it.
Payment Security
Payments are handled through QuickBooks (Intuit), an established, PCI-compliant platform. We send you a secure invoice to pay online — card details are entered with QuickBooks, never on this website, and Debt Clarity never stores your card number. We receive only the confirmation and billing information needed to complete your order.
Service Providers and Vendors
We share information with a limited set of trusted vendors who help us operate — such as payment processors, cloud storage and hosting providers, email delivery services, and form or CRM tools. These providers are contractually required to safeguard your information and to use it only to provide services to us. We do not authorize them to use your information for their own purposes. For more detail, see the "How We Share Your Information" section of our Privacy Policy.
Monitoring and Maintenance
We work to keep our website and the tools we use current with security updates and good operational practices. We periodically review our safeguards and adjust them as our service, technology, and the threat landscape evolve.
Incident Response and Breach Notification
If we become aware of a security incident that affects your personal information, we will act promptly to investigate and contain it, and we will notify affected clients and any applicable authorities as required by law. If you believe your information may have been compromised, please contact us immediately at hello@debt-clarity.com.
Your Role in Security
Security is a shared responsibility. You can help protect your own information by:
- Keeping your email account secure with a strong, unique password and, where available, two-factor authentication — we deliver documents and communications by email.
- Accessing our website and your documents only over a trusted, private internet connection.
- Confirming that emails claiming to be from us actually come from a @debt-clarity.com address before responding or opening attachments.
- Not sharing sensitive login credentials with anyone, including us.
- Contacting us right away if anything about a message or request seems suspicious.
Reporting a Vulnerability
We welcome reports from security researchers and users who believe they have found a vulnerability in our website. Please email hello@debt-clarity.com with the details, and allow us a reasonable opportunity to investigate and address the issue before any public disclosure. We appreciate good-faith efforts to help keep our clients safe.
No Guarantee of Absolute Security
No method of transmitting or storing data is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security, and you provide your information at your own risk. This Security page does not create any warranty or contractual obligation beyond those described in our Terms of Service.
Changes to This Security Statement
We may update this Security page from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or technology. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and post the revised version on our website.
